The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
Season 1 presents a large cast of characters residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
