Along with the forward's six scores on his first game, Stephen Ireland has scored eight in three appearances for the side, while Boyd scored five on his debut appearance and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by trade, scored a triple in one match as a striker.

Paul Barrow, 38, who features on the wing for Collegiate OB, faced ex- Latics full-back Figueroa on the weekend - and had to tell his young son who Emile Heskey was.

"It was going round like wildfire they had these ex-Premier League stars," remarked Barrow.

"I felt I was a little starstruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Even Heskey got on and he's got over 60 England appearances.

"Our side competed well for a good 20 mins but then we had a man sent off and it was hard.

"Our group really haven't stopped talking about it - I was phoning my mum and brother on the journey home.

"The opponents were all dead sound, shaking our hands after the match - it was like playing a group of normal fellas.

"Now we can't wait for the second fixture."
